FREESKY Electric Bike for Adults 1600W Power Motor 48V 20 AH Ebike Review

Let’s face it, the daily commute can be a drag. Sitting in traffic, inhaling fumes, and feeling the stress build with each passing minute… It’s not exactly a recipe for a happy and healthy life. For years, I’ve dreamt of a more sustainable and enjoyable way to get around, a way that wouldn’t leave me feeling exhausted and grumpy before I even reach the office. An electric bike seemed like the perfect solution – a blend of eco-friendly transportation and a dose of exercise. But with so many options on the market, finding the right one felt like a daunting task.

What to Consider Before Investing in an Electric Bike

Electric bikes offer a compelling alternative to cars for both commuting and recreational riding. They offer a boost to your pedaling power, making hills less daunting and longer distances more manageable. But before you jump into the electric bike market, it’s crucial to understand your needs and priorities. The ideal electric bike for you depends on your riding style, terrain, and the distance you plan to cover. If you’re a casual rider, a less powerful model with a shorter range might be sufficient. However, if you intend to tackle hilly terrain or long commutes, a more powerful model with a longer range is essential. Factors like battery life, motor power, weight, and suspension are all crucial considerations.

Exploring the Key Features and Their Benefits

Let’s dive deeper into some of the key features of the FREESKY WILD CAT PRO and how they contribute to its overall performance and user experience.

Unleashing the Power: 1600W Motor

The FREESKY WILD CAT PRO packs a serious punch with its 1600W peak power motor. This translates to effortless acceleration, making it a joy to ride even in traffic-heavy areas. The bike can reach a top speed of up to 35 mph, allowing you to easily keep up with city traffic or enjoy some spirited riding on the open road. But the real benefit lies in the bike’s ability to conquer hills without breaking a sweat. Whether you’re commuting up a steep incline or taking on a challenging trail, the WILD CAT PRO’s powerful motor makes it a breeze.

A Smooth Ride: Full Suspension System

Comfort is essential, especially when you’re covering long distances. The WILD CAT PRO features a full suspension system that absorbs bumps and shocks, ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride even on uneven surfaces. This is crucial for both commuting and recreational riding. Whether you’re navigating rough roads or exploring bumpy trails, the suspension system helps to minimize vibrations and ensure a pleasant experience. It also helps to reduce fatigue and improve overall comfort, especially on longer rides.

Range You Can Trust: 48V 20AH Battery

The WILD CAT PRO comes equipped with a robust 48V 20AH Samsung battery, providing a generous range of 45-90 miles. This is a significant advantage for both commuters and recreational riders. The battery’s long life means you can comfortably ride to work and back without having to worry about running out of juice. It also opens up the possibility of longer weekend adventures, knowing you can explore further without needing a recharge. The FREESKY WILD CAT PRO battery offers a reliable and consistent performance, ensuring a worry-free riding experience.

Built to Last: Durable Construction

Durability is a key consideration for any electric bike, especially if you intend to use it regularly. The WILD CAT PRO is built tough, with a sturdy 6061 aluminum frame that’s designed to withstand the rigors of everyday use. The 26” fat tires provide added stability and grip, making them ideal for navigating a variety of surfaces. The bike’s overall construction is rugged and resilient, built to handle both city streets and off-road terrain. This ensures that it can withstand the elements and keep rolling for years to come.

Bright Lights, Safe Nights: 800 Lumen Headlight

Visibility is crucial for safety, especially when riding in low-light conditions. The WILD CAT PRO features a powerful 800 lumen headlight, which provides excellent visibility even in the darkest of nights. This is a safety feature that’s essential for any electric bike, especially if you intend to commute or ride at night. The bright light ensures you can be seen by other vehicles, increasing your safety and peace of mind while riding.

Powerful Stops: Hydraulic Disc Brakes

Stopping power is just as important as acceleration. The WILD CAT PRO is equipped with high-performance hydraulic disc brakes, providing reliable and responsive braking in all weather conditions. This is a crucial safety feature, especially when riding at higher speeds. The hydraulic brakes offer a more precise and predictable braking experience compared to mechanical brakes, providing the rider with greater control and confidence.

Easy to See, Easy to Use: LCD Display

The WILD CAT PRO’s LCD display provides a convenient way to keep track of your speed, battery life, PAS level, and other essential riding information. This makes it easy to monitor your progress and ensure you’re getting the most out of your ride. The display is clear and well-lit, making it easy to read even in direct sunlight. The buttons are intuitive and easy to use, allowing you to quickly adjust your riding settings without having to take your hands off the handlebars.

What Other Riders Are Saying About the FREESKY WILD CAT PRO

I’ve done my research and found that the FREESKY WILD CAT PRO is highly regarded by other riders. Reviews online are overwhelmingly positive, praising its powerful motor, comfortable ride, and long range. Many riders appreciate its sturdy construction and ease of use. Here’s a glimpse into some of the feedback I’ve come across:

> “This bike was packed very well and had no damage. I am impressed with the quality of Freesky bikes. This bike is very comfortable to ride and easy to get on and off with step through. It comes with a very heavy-duty rack, nice full fenders, and bright front & rear lights. Fat tires and full suspension make it ride so nice. The 20 amp battery gives it awesome range! We rode 20 miles yesterday and the battery still showed full. I added a cell phone holder and used a 6-inch lightning charge cord plugged between the display pad and phone to keep it at a full charge. Also purchased a rack bag for goodies that makes the bike great for lunch or getting groceries, etc. There are four mounting screws on the front frame neck that a second basket or rack could be mounted. This bike is a great cargo bike. It is also powerful and fast. Awesome bike for the price!”

> “Update: Freesky saw my review below and contacted me to offer $200 off a second battery. Their battery is $500, so it would cost me $300 to have a second battery as a back-up for a bike that’s only getting 22 miles TOPS per charge (best I have gotten with all peddling on PAS 3) … combination of PAS levels up to level 5, it’s only getting 18 miles per charge. They advertise 60-90 miles using PAS so, either my bike is defective, or it’s false advertising. After riding my Freesky for a little over 4 months now and have 144 miles on it. I’m really disappointed with the mileage per battery charge. I ride a few nights per week and have gotten 20 miles per charge average since I got it. The most I’ve gotten is 22 and that was on PAS 3 level with all peddling, no throttle. This is all blacktop/concrete road riding in my neighborhood and in town with little to no hills. If I use the throttle at all, and go up to PAS 4 and 5 it’s only getting 18 tops. It is fast and a fun bike to ride, but it doesn’t go far. ‘Off-road’ dirt trails, etc…. it’s going to be even worse. I’m 6’1″ tall and 181 lbs. which is not that much over their optimum test weight of 165 lbs. Freesky advertises ‘pure electric mode of 35-60 miles…’ and a max of 60-90 using PAS. Again, my max is 22 miles and that’s with all PAS at level 3 and no throttle. The company itself has been very responsive with my issues. I have several emails back and forth and they have made a number of attempts over these past 4 months to correct things. They’ve sent a new controller, then a different throttle, and finally a new sensor. I’m not a mechanic, so it has taken me quite a bit of time and effort to remove and install the new components but I have been able to do so by watching videos online. Nothing has improved the mileage. They wanted me to test the battery first off which required me to purchase a multi-meter but I did and the test was within their parameters. So, I really can’t say anything bad about the company and ‘Frida’s’ responsiveness, but getting only 22 miles at absolute best per charge is not what I was expecting when I bought the bike. Good customer service is appreciated, especially these days, but if the product doesn’t perform as advertised it’s not worth me having. I was intending this to be a semi- off-road bike but if I’m only going to get less than 18 miles per charge, that simply won’t suffice in my real-world use. I have another ebike that I haven’t had to do a thing to it since I got it out of the box. I use it for hunting and fishing while wearing a backpack, hauling fishing equipment, etc… and it gets between 40- 50 miles per charge and that’s using throttle, on and off-road and using all PAS levels, so I know it’s possible. It’s got 20-inch tires and I wanted a bigger 26″ tire bike too, which is why I bought this Freesky. There are so many ebike companies and bikes at this same price point out there now. It looks like I’ll unfortunately have to be looking at a different one soon.”

While the FREESKY WILD CAT PRO is a promising electric bike with a lot to offer, it’s important to be aware that the battery range can be less than advertised, especially on hilly terrain or at higher PAS levels.
