I’ve been using the Acer Chromebook R 11 Convertible for almost a year now, and I’ve had a lot of time to see its pros and cons. I’ve been wanting to get a device that I could use for work and play, something that would be able to keep up with my busy schedule. However, I wasn’t sure if I wanted a laptop, a tablet, or a 2-in-1 device. There were a lot of factors to consider, like price, performance, and portability. All of these weighed heavily on my decision, as I wanted to find a device that would be affordable yet powerful enough to suit my needs.
Chromebooks are a great alternative to traditional laptops and tablets. They are known for their affordability, portability, and ease of use. However, there are a few things you should consider before making your decision. First, you have to think about whether a Chromebook is the right fit for you. It’s ideal for those who primarily use web-based applications and don’t need powerful processing for demanding tasks like video editing or gaming. For someone looking for a powerful device to handle heavy workloads, you’ll want to look at a traditional laptop with more processing power and storage.
If you are looking for a device that will allow you to do your work and play on the go, a Chromebook is a great option. These are typically light and easy to carry, with battery life that can last for hours. It’s important to be aware of the limitations though. There are certain things that Chromebooks can’t do, such as running specific apps or software, or accessing certain files. So, make sure you do your research before buying a Chromebook and see if it meets your needs. You’ll also need to consider the specific model that you’re interested in. There are a lot of different Chromebooks available, each with its own set of features and specs. Before you buy, it’s important to think about what you will be using the Chromebook for, and what features are most important to you.

Features & Benefits
Performance:
The Acer Chromebook R 11‘s processor is powerful enough for most everyday tasks. It runs web-based apps smoothly, and I’ve been able to use it for light video editing and gaming without any issues. It’s not going to be able to handle intensive tasks like 3D modeling or video editing, though. Still, it’s more than capable of handling the demands of most users.
Design & Portability:
I’ve been impressed by the Acer Chromebook R 11 Convertible’s design. It’s a well-built and stylish device. The aluminum cover is a nice touch, and it feels durable. The Chromebook is also very light, making it easy to carry around. When folded, it’s surprisingly thin, and it fits easily in my bag. This is great for students or professionals who are constantly on the go.
Touchscreen:
The touchscreen is responsive and accurate. The display isn’t the sharpest out there, but it’s good enough for web browsing, watching videos, and playing games. It is also great for navigating the Chrome OS, which is an intuitive and easy-to-use operating system. The Chromebook also comes with a built-in stylus, which makes it even more versatile and convenient. It’s an excellent option for those who want to take notes, draw, or create art.
Battery Life:
I’ve been able to consistently get around 8-9 hours of battery life on a single charge, which is pretty good for a Chromebook. This means that I can use it for a full day without needing to plug it in, which is really helpful when I’m traveling or working from home. I’ve found that the battery life is even longer if you turn off the touchscreen and Wi-Fi when you’re not using it.
Storage:
The Chromebook only has 32GB of storage. I do wish it had more, as I have a lot of apps and files that I need to store. I have to be mindful of how much space I’m using, and I need to make sure that I’m deleting files that I don’t need anymore. It’s important to note that you can expand the storage space by using a microSD card.
User Reviews & Experiences
I looked at what other users have said about the Acer Chromebook R 11 Convertible and found a lot of positive feedback. Many users appreciate its lightweight design, long battery life, and touch screen display. However, some have commented that the storage space is limited.
For example, one user said: “I rarely write reviews. I mostly do video reviews, but never of specific products. That may change here soon. This is awesome and has quickly replaced many of my gizmos and gadgets, some that have cost me upwards of thousands of dollars. People who complain that Chromebooks are useless without internet access clearly are narrow minded and simply not thinking outside the box. Allow me to explain: Let me begin by saying I take tech seriously. Since beginning a journey into a lifelong passion of filmmaking and screenplay writing I have invested tens of thousands of dollars of my own money into PC’s that can keep up with the demands of 4k video editing and post processessing. I have amassed a couple of decent PC’s, one a custom desktop (still being built; $3K~) and another an ASUS 970m ROG Laptop ($1300~) that are great for exactly what I need them for. My desktop runs all my video editing software for my bigger and most demanding projects and my laptop is great for editing video and running PC games in places other than my home (like school!). Recently, I’ve really gotten into writing more and I’ve found myself coming up with ideas on the go and wanted something a bit lighter than a 10lb ASUS Laptop (that thing is a monster). So mind you I really ONLY purchased to type down ideas as I had them. Seriously. I wanted something I could work on my writing projects on the go, so I paid the $250 for this thing. I just wanted a mobile typewriter. But oh my… I had no idea how far the rabbit hole went.”
Another user, who had some issues, said: “I liked my R11 convertible tablet fine for the first 4 months that it was functional. It was kind of slow and sluggish, but once it loaded all my tabs (I start with 5), it usually did the job fine. But then it froze almost 4 months to the day after I received it, and by that I mean that it was unable to recognize any key or combination of keys, including the power button. And I researched the chromebook blogs and forums online and tried them all. Since it wouldn’t even power down, I had to let the battery drain down on its own, and now I am going to try the method I found online of doing a hard reboot by replacing the battery. I had to order a little kit with “spudgers” in them to help me deal with prying the back off and to unplug the battery, which was a bit of a pain. I could take it to an Acer authorized repair location, but the nearest one to me is 45 minutes away, and it seemed less hassle to just try the hard battery reboot method myself. And also because I have read reviews stating that Acer support is pretty crappy, so I am going to save that joy until I absolutely have no other option. So the bottom line is the hard reboot might work and it might not. Don’t know yet, and I’m outside the window for return to amazon. I have 2 other Acer products, the CB5-571 chromebook and the CX12-8GKM chromebox I used to upgrade my tv to a Chrome Smart TV. Neither of them have ever done anything like this. So I have to conclude that it is due to the poor quality processor Acer used in this device in order to deliver the R11 Convertible’s combination of features at such a low price point. The good news is that I am still within the 12 month warranty period, so if the hard reboot doesn’t work, I will have to explore the Acer repair route. I will update after I make the attempt. Live and learn.”
